The Peavine Church

For the church-goers, a little church was built in the camp on a good field stone foundation. The Peaviners were very proud of their little church. Thomas D. Casale, an Italian contractor in the camp, had built the structure. The vertical board building had a door to the right and a little six-pane window to the left of the door and another window on the far left. A wood burning, pot belly stove sat in the middle of the church for warmth in the winter months. The church was only used for church services and Sunday School. It was just large enough to hold the very religious congregation of about 60 people.
Mr. Casale even saw to it that a flag pole was installed at the church. It was raised and flown every clear day.
